MP3 Book Helper is a complete tool for the integral management of your MP3 and OGG files. Though initially designed for audiobooks, this free open source project helps you to keep all your MP3 recordings organized and tagged, regardless of its content. It supports Vorbis and ID3 tagging (both v1.1 and v2.3), and creates NFO, SVF, and PAR files, together with WinAmp-compatible playlists (M3U).

The program has been designed to fulfil two specific tasks – documenting your audio files, and checking the integrity of the files themselves. The audio files supported are MP3, OGG, FLAC, and Speex (an open source compression format designed specifically for speech recordings). To perform the first task and to make it easier for you, this program relies on a long list of variables to make naming and renaming your files a simple and almost automatic process. Though you can always fill in that information yourself, you can also import data from a number of sources, namely freedb.org, XML, TXT, and CSV files.

To fulfil the second objective, MP3 Book Helper checks the SFV and PAR files to test the level of completeness and the correct size of the MP3 files. It is also capable of performing simultaneous tests of CRC32 and MD5 checksums for both MP3 and OGG files. Finally, this application can create SFV (Simple File Verify) checksum files and Parity archive recovery files (PAR) when necessary.

This free tool certainly offers much more than the average user needs, but it is equally useful for any user.
